Trump’s talk about immigrants in private is as bad as his public comments

From this article, here’s a description of Trump’s comments at a meeting to prepare for a speech to Congress:

“Trump reminded them the crowds loved his rhetoric on immigrants along the campaign trail. Acting as if he were at a rally, he then read aloud a few made-up Hispanic names and described potential crimes they could have committed, such as rape or murder. Then, he said, the crowds would roar when the criminals were thrown out of the country — as they did when he highlighted crimes by illegal immigrants at his rallies, according to a person present for the exchange and another briefed on it later. Miller and Kushner laughed.”

Trump’s extremist judicial picks are supported by Republicans in the Senate

These picks are not qualified.

NAACP press release

It includes “The refusal of Wendy Vitter and Andrew Oldham to endorse the Supreme Court’s unanimous decision in Brown v. Board of Education is a judicial dog-whistle and should be disqualifying.”

Great tweet on Jack Johnson

=3-2=

This tweet makes a great point.  Trump pardoned the late Jack Johnson but objects to protests by current Black athletes.

Background on why Obama didn’t pardon Johnson:

another good point:

“Spygate” is phony

There was no embedded FBI spy in the Trump campaign.  The FBI used an informant to find out what the Russians were up to.

This is just another Trump lie like:

  • Obama wiretapped him
  • The Obama administration unmasked people inappropriately
  • There was no valid basis for the FISA warrant on Carter Page
  • The Steele dossier was the basis for the investigation

Trump is damaging our intelligence agencies to distract attention from what he and his campaign did and focus on the investigators.

Here’s an analysis of Trump’s strategy.

Another analysis

Trump is winning by using the word “spy”

Why Trump invented “Spygate”

Sad!

I’m tired of Trump’s lies and insults about Democrats

Democrats do not defend MS-13 gang members.

Democrats don’t want open borders with criminals rushing in.

Democrats are patriots – their campaign did not deal with Russia, an enemy of the US.

Democrats are in favor of fair taxes, not giving most of the breaks to the rich.

Democrats want the negotiations with North Korea to be successful.  There is justified skepticism based on Trump’s behavior and prior history of negotiations with North Korea.

I am tired of Trump’s divisive lies and insults.  Sure, all politicians criticize their opponents but Trump’s talk has been extreme.  He has no interest in unifying the country.  He only cares about his base.

I am also sick of the term “libtard”.  I don’t call conservatives “conservatard”.

New York Times fact check

Musical tastes are formed in early adolescence

This article is about research that shows that people prefer the music that was popular when they were young.

The article states: “Songs that came out decades earlier are now, on average, most popular among men who were 14 when they were first released. The most important period for men in forming their adult tastes were the ages 13 to 16.

What about women? On average, their favorite songs came out when they were 13. The most important period for women were the ages 11 to 14.”

It also states “For both men and women, their early 20s were half as influential in determining adult musical tastes as their early teens.”

This certainly applies to me.   My all-time favorite music is from the 1960s – Dylan, Stones, Beatles, Mothers of Invention, etc.

If I thought a song sucked then, I probably still do.  I have expanded my taste and gone back to listen to stuff I ignored like James Brown, Professor Longhair, James Carr, Big Star, and Ann Peebles.  I am also knowledgeable now about blues, country, and folk music going back to the 1920s.  I thank the great CD reissues for making this music available.
