More about voter fraud and 2018

I am very concerned that Trump will say there was voter fraud if Republicans lose the House of Representatives in 2018.

Look at the false accusations from right-wing supporters in 2012.  They’ll say similar stuff this year if they lose.

This poll from September 2016 shows that

  1. Thirty-five percent say there is a great deal of election fraud in the United States, 39 percent say there is some election fraud, and only 24 percent say there is hardly any.
  2. Forty-one percent are very concerned and 35 percent are somewhat concerned about how susceptible the country’s election system is to hacking. Just 23 percent express little concern.
  3. Only 4 in 10 have a lot of confidence that the vote counts will be accurate this year. Three in 10 are moderately confident, and another 3 in 10 have little or no confidence in this year’s vote counts.

Then there’s the threat from Russia.  However, not everyone is concerned about that.  Only 34% of Republicans think Russia will attempt to influence the 2018 elections while 80% of Democrats think it is likely.  The poll also shows that “Eight in ten Americans, or 79 percent, are also concerned that the country’s voting systems might be vulnerable to computer hackers, including nearly half (47 percent) who are very concerned.”

The bottom line is that many people already distrust US election results.  Trump will fan this distrust and try to discredit elections that are not favorable to him.

He is also not taking any leadership role to prevent Russian interference since it will help him.  Republicans in general are not concerned about the Russians which is incredible to me since we know they interfered in the 2016 elections.

There’s going to be something for everyone to be skeptical about in the 2018 Congressional elections.  Sad!

Forget about impeachment

This column makes an excellent point.  Impeachment of Trump (if there are grounds for it), is extremely unlikely. Even if the House brings charges, it’s almost impossible to project 67 votes in the Senate to convict him.

If Trump is guilty of crimes (and I will wait on the conclusion of the Mueller investigation for their opinion), indictment is the better approach.

2020 Census “dress rehearsal” has problems

The 2020 Census “dress rehearsal” in Rhode Island has raised a lot of concerns.

“Several elected officials and leaders of advocacy and community groups this week held an “emergency press conference” to raise concerns, which include a shortage of publicity around the test and its limited language outreach in an immigrant-heavy county, with large communities from countries including the Dominican Republic, Guatemala, Portugal and Cape Verde.”

Seventeen states and six cities have sued the federal government over the planned citizenship question.

Sad!

Dow returns after the first 444 days of an presidential administration

Here are the numbers from Bloomberg:

  1. FDR : 70.4%
  2. Reagan: 41.4%
  3. Teddy Roosevelt: 37.4%
  4. Obama: 32.5%
  5. Bill Clinton: 32.2%
  6. George H.W. Bush: 21.4%
  7. Trump: 20.7%

Trump is seventh since 1900 and hasn’t bragged about the market lately.  For better or worse, it’s his market now.

Stocks were not a big part of his wealth and he apparently divested himself of them so I don’t think he really cares what happens.  He primarily cares about himself.

Sad!

Get rid of Kushner

Kushner is unethical, just like his father-in-law.  Remember, he lost his top security clearance and had to revise his financial disclosure form several times.

Deutsche Bank loaned Kushner’s business $285 million right before the 2016 election. This could pose a conflict of interest.  Like Trump, Kushner has not disposed of most of his business holdings.

Kushner’s family business received loans from Citigroup and a private equity firm after a White House meeting.  “There is little precedent for a top White House official meeting with executives of companies as they contemplate sizable loans to his business, say government ethics experts.”  It is certainly not appropriate.

A Saudi prince bragged that Kushner gave him CIA intelligence about other Saudis according to this story.  Four countries previously discussed how to manipulate Kushner.

A New York City agency is investigating a dozen Kushner properties after reports the company routinely filed false paperwork.

These are not the only stories.  Kushner has no qualifications to work on foreign policies and his businesses are cause for conflict of interest concerns.

Trump needs to get rid of his son-in-law.  This is not a family business.  Sad!
