Trump’s rant on Fox & Friends

Ronny Jackson needs to give Trump some sedatives.

Interview annotated with commentary from the Washington Post.   He’s still talking about his Electoral College victory and how the media didn’t predict it!

Here’s an analysis from Esquire.  They called it “…the presidential equivalent of an old, cantankerous Jets fan calling into WFAN…”

For a third time, a judge ruled against Trump’s plan to end DACA

A federal judge ( a George W. Bush appointee) “…called the government’s decision to end the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program “virtually unexplained” and therefore “unlawful.” However, he stayed his ruling for 90 days to give the Department of Homeland Security a chance to provide more solid reasoning for ending the program.”

Trump is a bigot and judges can see through it.  Sad!

Mulvaney admitted lobbyist contributions can buy access in Congress

Mulvaney said ““We had a hierarchy in my office in Congress.  If you’re a lobbyist who never gave us money, I didn’t talk to you. If you’re a lobbyist who gave us money, I might talk to you.”

This analysis goes into more detail.

Mulvaney also is considering ending public access to a database consumers use to file complaints against financial institutions.  The Trump institution clearly cares about businesses more than the public.  Sad!

Update: Even after he worked for the administration, Mulvaney met with lobbyists who contributed to his campaigns.

Another questionable Trump pick

From this article: “U.S. President Donald Trump’s nominee for Wall Street regulator Comptroller of the Currency bought financial stocks until he took office in November, according to financial disclosure documents filed with the Office of Government Ethics.
While not illegal, the trading activity by Joseph Otting’s money manager could violate the spirit of ethics rules designed to prevent conflicts of interest, five experts in U.S. government ethics standards said.”

What’s wrong with these people?  Don’t they care about ethics?  They’re like Trump. Sad!

Tax update

Millionaires will save $17 billion because of a provision in the tax cuts.

This column shows that voters understand the tax cuts won’t help most of them:

“Just 27 percent of Americans believe the GOP tax overhaul was a good idea, according to a recent NBC News/Wall Street Journal poll. Even among Republican voters, the tax cuts are not exactly thunderously popular: A little more than half (56 percent) say they were a good idea. ”

The tax cut is not doing what Republicans claimed it would according to this column.

The author says “…the tax cut haven’t as yet juiced up the economy; the pass-through gimmick was a huge sop to the rich; and the cuts ballooned the debt.”

The law actually gives companies incentives to move factories and offices out of the US.

Republicans will keep the Arizona House seat but with a much smaller margin than Trump got

The Republicans will hold onto Arizona Congressional District 8.  The current margin is 52.7% to 46.9%.  Trump won this district by 21%.

This graph shows that many areas went more Democratic while none went more Republican:

Analysis of the results

Republicans lost support in every special administration during the Trump presidency
