Trump uses movie score without permission

Trump posted a video which used the score of The Dark Knight without permission. This is similar to his use of music at rallies after the artists have told him to stop.

Warner Brothers made him take the video down. Sad!

Gun safety update 4/10/19

There’s a good chance that the Democratic presidential candidate in 2020 will support gun safety measures like the public and the House do. As long as Republicans/NRA control the Senate, not much can be done at the federal level. At least the Trump administration banned bump stocks. It is obvious that no amount of mass shootings will change the objections to things like universal background checks and banning assault weapons. Too bad we’re not like New Zealand which banned assault weapons in about a week.

Our best chance for change is at the state/local level.

Republicans distort Democratic positions. Democrats are not going to repeal the second amendment and they’re not going to take your guns (with the possible exception of assault weapons).

Trump’s dangerous “coup” and “treason” talk

He’s gone completely into conspiracy theory territory. This undermines our country and sabotages law enforcement. It’s an attempt to obscure all the bad things Trump and his team did. My idea of treason: Trump, Jr./Manafort/Kushner meeting with Russians. They should have reported the contact to the FBI instead.

According to Trump, winning the election means the public absolved him of everything. That’s not true. Even if you agree with his “logic”, how could voters absolve him of stuff we didn’t know about at the time of the election (because Trump lied about Russian contacts)?

Gerrymandering update 4/10/19

Drug prices

Drug companies benefitted from Trump’s tax cut but didn’t lower prices. Now, some Republicans don’t even want the companies to testify in a hearing on drug prices. Sad!

Another Trump nominee won’t say that Brown v. Board of Education was correct

Brown v. Board of Education was a landmark Supreme Court case that resulted in a ruling that school segregation was unconstitutional.

Now, another Trump nominee won’t say that it was correctly decided. This is racism right out in the open.

Covers: Carol

Chuck Berry recorded his song “Carol” in 1958. The Beatles performed it for the BBC in 1963 but that wasn’t released until 1994. The Rolling Stones also covered it in 1964. Both bands just sound really young to me. The Rolling Stones also covered it live in 1969; this is a much more confident and relaxed version.

A recent cover – a timeless song
