Setsuko Hara was a great Japanese actress. She appeared in many fine films directed by Yasujiro Ozu. Ozu films were not widely shown in the US until Tokyo Story (1953) was shown in 1972.
Tokyo Story will be shown on 8/21 along with Late Spring, Early Autumn, Late Autumn and Tokyo Twilight. Tokyo Twilight is relatively unknown and is one of his best that I have seen. It’s available as part of this DVD set. Many of his films are part of the Criterion Collection.

It’s easy to identify the groups of people who have prevented us from ending the pandemic “We” sounds good but we can’t even have a consensus on basic facts like who won the 2020 election and what happened on 1/6/21. I’m not optimistic about unity in our country.
Trump has said the 1/6 rioters were wonderful people. He has also said they were Antifa and Black Lives Matter. Those are both lies but which one does he believe? Both can’t be plausible. I don’t understand how anyone would think liberals would want to stop the Electoral College vote. Biden isn’t as liberal as I and many others would like but he is far better than Trump.
WCK is doing a great job all over the world. They support restaurants by buying meals from them and then give them to people who need them. Last year, they were giving out meals at the football stadium here in Baltimore which is near my home. They bought many of them from a neighborhood restaurant during the time restaurants were closed for indoor dining.

“Somewhere” , written by Leonard Bernstein and Stephen Sondheim, was originally in the 1957 musical West Side Story which was filmed in 1961. I remember the 1966 Len Barry cover best but maybe that’s because he was from Philadelphia and I lived in the suburbs there.
It’s all about TV ratings. That’s why we have beach volleyball and skateboarding. When do we get Olympic monster trucks?
