Twitter thread and article on how low streaming pay hurts musicians

Touring doesn’t make up for it.

Great Washington Post column by Margaret Sullivan

Margaret Sullivan writes outstanding columns for the Washington Post.

I think it’s simple. Don’t put liars on TV. There is no incentive for them to stop lying if they can get jobs or interviews. Anyone who believes the big lie should never be allowed on TV.

I understand that some networks want to be balanced but that doesn’t work when as cited in the column, one party is “anti-democratic”. Unfortunately, Republicans fall into two camps – Trump and his kind and Never Trumpers who have very little support within their party.

Republicans have intimidated the media – it’s like working the refs in sports.

Richard Manuel

Today is the late Richard Manuel’s birthday. He was one of three lead singers for The Band and played piano (or sometimes drums). Manuel’s singing could really convey pain, frailty, and heartbreak. He’s one of my favorite vocalists ever.

One of his greatest vocals is on 1970’s “The Shape I’m In”. Two of my favorites are “Saved” and “The Great Pretender” from the 1973 covers album Moondog Matinee. I love the way he hits the high note near the end of “The Great Pretender”. “Saved” appears to be a commentary on his own substance abuse problems.

Check out The Richard Manuel Archive for some excellent articles on The Band.

Don’t say “Americans” when it’s clearly some Republicans and Fox News

Look at the comments on my tweet. They can’t defend Trump and Fox so they talk about Obama and Lyndon Johnson.

More on GOP support of Russia:

Republicans don’t really care about crime or they would support gun safety laws

I guess I didn’t set it up right as a thread but I was very frustrated last night about Republican opposition to gun safety.
