I didn’t know this about Peter Lorre

Peter Lorre was a great Austrian-Hungarian actor who starred in the 1931 German film M. He was Jewish and left Germany when Hitler took over.

He was a character actor, not a leading man. He had roles in American films such as The Maltese Falcon and Casablanca. He finished his career in low-budget Roger Corman horror films. I didn’t know the information in the tweet which explains the decline in his career.

Misleading tweet on abortion polls

The question should be how many people want a complete ban on abortion which is what the Alito draft proposes. Kerr’s tweet is very misleading because he includes people who want abortion but with restrictions. That’s not what’s being offered by Alito. Alito’s position has very little support. This is not a deep division.

More abortion polls

Most people do not agree with the extremist Alito draft position on abortion. Republican politicians haven’t gloated about the draft because they know it’s not popular. They are trying to distract us by focusing on the leak.

The Hindenburg disaster 5/6/37

The Hindenburg Zeppelin explosion took place 85 years ago yesterday. In The Naked Gun 2 1/2 (1991), there is a scene in a bar with pictures of disasters on the wall including the Titanic, the Hindenburg and Michael Dukakis. Younger readers may not recall that Dukakis was crushed in the 1988 US Presidential election.

Leslie Nielsen was the star of the Naked Gun movies and was fond of using a fart machine. Read about him to find out what he put on his gravestone.

Expand the Supreme Court now

I support expansions of the Court. Republicans essentially stole two seats by not having a vote on Garland and then being hypocrites and pushing Barrett through. As much as I would love a liberal majority on the court, I think you can only justify adding two to make up for the two seats Republicans took. Republicans play hard ball (and win). Democrats need to do this, too. This must be done now. If Republicans win the Senate, they won’t approve anyone Biden nominates for the Supreme Court. They threatened to do this if Hillary Clinton had won in 2016.

A Founding Father and a whalebone

I learned something from this tweet which was posted after the Supreme Court draft was leaked.

A whalebone up your penis? Ouch!! This sounds almost as bad as the Bobbits. I’m kind of sensitive about this stuff. I have had bladder cancer twice and had medical equipment stuck up my penis about 25-30 times. Trust me, it’s painful.
