50th anniversary of the moon landing

Many of us who were around remember where we were when the Apollo 11 astronauts walked on the moon. It’s memorable like the Kennedy and King assassinations or 9/11. I remember (age 15) going into my parents’ bedroom to watch it on their small (15″?) black and white TV. It was amazing.

If you weren’t around then, you have no idea how famous the astronauts were. The Mercury astronauts were like rock stars. I can still name all seven. We watched the early flights in our elementary school classrooms. It was incredible.

CNN is showing Apollo 11 tonight at 9:00 and 11:00. I strongly recommend it – I just watched it on Blu-ray. There’s footage that looks familiar and some we have never seen. The picture quality is great considering the age and circumstances of the original recordings.

Antifa doesn’t kill people. Right-wing terrorists do.

The right wing always brings up Antifa when the right wing terrorists are criticized. However, Antifa has done very little compared to the Trump/Fox News inspired right wing extremists.

Trump doubles down on his racist tweets and the crowd in North Carolina

He disavowed the “Send her back” chant and then he doubled down by praising the crowd – this is just like Charlottesville.

It is pathetic how few Republicans pushed back against Trump’s racist comments. They know he will attack him and they will probably not get re-elected. They saw what happened to Flake and Corker.

No Matter What Shape (You’re Stomach’s In)

“No Matter What Shape (You’re Stomach’s In)” was a 1965 instrumental single by the T-Bones that was based on the music for an Alka-Seltzer commercial.

It was recorded by The Wrecking Crew; a different group of musicians went on the road when the record became a hit. The commercial was created by Stewart Greene who passed away earlier this month.
