The original version was by the Kinks from 1966. It was not a single (at least not in the US) but has become better known over time. There are several covers by power pop artists recorded decades after the Kinks version.
I don’t know how to reason with people who think like this
Many Republicans won’t accept basic facts about Russian interference and would even let Trump postpone the next election. I think it’s plausible he would try to do this if it appears he would lose. He’ll claim that it’s rigged and that there would be massive voter fraud.
Half of Republicans say they would support postponing the 2020 election if Trump proposed it.

Trump’s policies will create more anti-US terrorists
Think about these children who were separated from their parents by Trump’s policies. They will grow up to hate the United States. I think it’s fair to assume that some of them will become terrorists who try to harm the US and its residents.
The great majority of people coming from Central America are not terrorists now but some will be eventually thanks to Trump’s cruel policies.
Republicans won’t compromise so Democrats shouldn’t either
You can’t compromise with people like Mitch McConnell who steal Supreme Court seats. Trump thinks of everything in terms of winning and losing – that leaves no room for a compromise that would give something to both sides.
I have given up. Democrats have to win the presidency and both houses of Congress and give the Republicans some of their own medicine. I would be fine with compromising if I thought Republicans would do it too but it’s clear that they won’t.
It looks like Democratic voters have figured out that compromise is not possible. Now we need elected officials to understand this, too.

Mr. Celery
Mr. Celery is a mascot for the Wilmington Blue Rocks (minor league baseball Class A affiliate of the Kansas City Royals). He comes out and dances whenever the Blue Rocks score. There are lots of fan videos on YouTube.

The first time I saw him, I wondered if Delaware produced a lot of celery and I just didn’t know. The official story is that the team wanted another mascot and had an extra costume from an eating healthy promotion. The guy who plays him told Deadspin he found the costume dumpster diving. That’s a better story but I doubt it’s true. The Blue Rocks store has a page of Mr. Celery merchandise.

They include Grover Cleveland (president), Aaron Burr (vice president), George Gallup (pollster), The Menendez parents (famous murder victims) and John O’Hara (writer). Trump is going to fight the release of the returns to Congress but it looks like legally they have the right to see them. What is he hiding? The possibilities include paying little or no taxes, tax evasion, overstatement of his net wealth, income from other countries that would cause a potential conflict of interest.
