How does Trump know Stormy Daniels made up the story about the attacker?

“How could Trump possibly know whether or not a man harassed Daniels in 2011? Was he in the parking lot in which the alleged incident happened? If not, there is no possible way he could possess factual proof that Daniels is making up this story.”

More information from the New York Times

I believe Daniels and I believe Trump/Cohen are behind the attack.

Sad!

More people are viewing the FBI as biased against Trump

The Republican attacks on our intelligence agencies are working.

“More than half of Republicans now think that the FBI is actively biased against Trump.”

This is nonsense designed to protect Trump from the investigations.

Sad!

Great New York Times editorial

The New York Times warns it will be up to Congress to take action if Trump tries to harm or shutdown the Mueller investigation.

I don’t have any confidence in congressional Republicans.  They won’t protect the Special Counsel and won’t do anything if Mueller or Rosenstein are fired.

As the Washington Post argues, Fox News will protect Trump.  The column notes that “In a recent Reuters/Ipsos poll, three of four Republicans said they believed the Justice Department and the FBI are actively working to undermine Trump.”

Sad!

Trump should use these words for Russian meddling in the 2016 election

Trump was critical of the raids against his lawyer.

“It’s “an attack on our country in a true sense, an attack on what we all stand for,” Trump said of the raids, which were first reported by The New York Times.”

I am going to make a few points which are not my own original thoughts – I have seen people say this online or on TV.

  1. Trump should use this language against Russia for their attacks on the 2016 election but he never will.
  2. He equates “the country” with himself.  The raids are not an attack on our country and what we stand for.  This is authoritarian behavior.

Sad!

What will Republicans do if Trump fires Rosenstein? Nothing

The New York Times reported tonight on a second attempt by Trump to fire Mueller, this time in December 2017.  He backed down when reports that Mueller had issued subpoenas about Trump’s Deutsche Bank accounts turned out to be inaccurate.

Republicans keep pretending that Trump has no intention of firing Mueller. Some Republican senators think “additional protections of Mueller’s investigation aren’t necessary…”

They won’t pass a law to protect him.

If Trump followed the law, he would have to get Rosenstein to fire Mueller.  Now, he is considering firing Rosenstein and possibly Sessions.  Trump could then appoint a Deputy Attorney General who would do more than Rosenstein to protect Trump and limit the Mueller investigation.

If Republicans won’t prevent this, will they do anything after the fact if it happens?  I doubt it.  The Republican Party is now Trump’s party.

Even a majority of Republican voters don’t think Trump should fire Mueller but that was before the Cohen raid; they may object less to firing Rosenstein or Sessions.  Trump has been critical of both of them for months so I am sure his base won’t care if he cans them.

By firing Rosenstein instead of Mueller, Trump could accomplish his mission of restricting or even ending the investigation by making a move that would be less controversial among his base voters.

I don’t think Republicans in Congress will do anything to stop him or punish him if he fired Rosenstein.

Sad!

Update: Rosenstein most likely to be fired
