Today we're celebrating 31 years of 'The Neighborhood'!

The @chicagotribune described the abum as "East L.A. soul music, played and sung with utter conviction." Check out the band's performance of "The Neighborhood" on the Late Show with David Letterman https://t.co/YfZoVrdKE0

Trump hurts business by limiting legal immigration

New Washington Post Trump fact check

New #FactChecker –> President Trump has made 4,713 false or misleading claims in 592 days https://t.co/t6XxHerDr4

— Glenn Kessler (@GlennKesslerWP) September 4, 2018

Some amazing stuff here:

“On June 20, he claimed he had received a phone call from the head of U.S. Steel and learned the company had announced it would open “six major facilities.” But U.S. Steel had made no such announcement and we debunked this claim as worthy of Four Pinocchios. Yet 23 more times over 10 weeks, the president has asserted that U.S. Steel was building new plants, inflating it even to seven facilities and then to eight.”

“One hundred times, Trump has made the false assertion that he passed the biggest tax cut in U.S. history.”

There are a lot more like this in this excellent analysis. Sad!

Bob Woodward’s book is coming

This should be good.

Woodward tells the truth while Trump lies every day. Who are you going to believe?

Took the WH four hours to come with the same statement it’s used for the last two books https://t.co/0Z4lcxgmLN

— Robert Costa (@costareports) September 4, 2018

I've been on the receiving end of a Bob Woodward book. There were quotes in it I didn't like. But never once – never – did I think Woodward made it up. Anonymous sources have looser lips and may take liberties. But Woodward always plays is straight. Someone told it to him.

— Ari Fleischer (@AriFleischer) September 4, 2018

What you're seeing in the Woodward book is that the Cabinet essentially already activated the 25th Amendment

They just didn't tell us.

— Rick Wilson (@TheRickWilson) September 4, 2018

Worried about Trump's judgment, Gary Cohn took a letter from Trump's desk authorizing the withdrawal of the U.S. from a trade agreement with South Korea, according to Bob Woodward's new book. Cohn told an associate that Trump never realized it was missing. https://t.co/R17YNZPKqz

Three three questions for Trump supporters:

Are the Trump appointees who spoke to Bob Woodward lying?

In this book, he is universally portrayed as a liar by his colleagues. Why is that?

What bothers you most? His advisers hating Trump for being a liar, or being a child?

— Rick Wilson (@TheRickWilson) September 4, 2018

Some in the extended Trump diaspora are preparing to use the Woodward book as a fresh push against Kelly.

Trump talks about media licenses again

Scary stuff

This is dictator territory

Just for the record: NBC News has NO license, so one can't be "looked at." NBC doesn't, either. Its owned and operated stations do (WNBC, WRC, etc.), but FCC has never taken away a station license for news coverage, nor could it under the First Amendment. https://t.co/PedjMVClVn

Lindsey Graham’s hypocrisy

Don’t forget Merrick Garland. I hope Trump doesn’t try to nominate a Supreme Court justice in his last year.

The backdrop is that in a state Trump won by 19, the poll puts his net approval now at only +2. Trump's approval drops looks real to me… Got a number of high quality polls that have Trump's approval rating in the 30s… If that is correct and holds, we may be looking at more like a 40+ seat gain for the Dems come November… https://t.co/RqrrPAGVsa

— (((Harry Enten))) (@ForecasterEnten) September 5, 2018

Underrated: How rarely incumbents lose when their party is having a good year overall.

In our Senate database, there are 5 years I'd consider wave elections (94, 2010 and 14 for R's; 2006 and 08 for D's). How did incumbents from the waving parties do? Undefeated. 54 for 54.

— Nate Silver (@NateSilver538) September 7, 2018

Eight questions for the midterms

Among the many indispensable insights from @danbalz here: in ABC/WP polling Trump's approval w/college+ white women has skidded from 40% @ the 100 day mark to 23% now. But w/non-col white women he was 51% then, 49% now. Why suburbs are easier for Dems. https://t.co/oyCwLedupK

Trump lies about the Lester Holt interview

Now it’s inconvenient that Trump told Holt he fired Comey over Russia so he just lies and says the tape was altered. Trump has provided no proof…because there isn’t any. Sad!

As a former prosecutor, I know that when defendants make incriminating admissions on tape, they often argue the tape was fudged. They invariably lose because people trust their eyes & ears. The Lester Holt interview with @POTUS has been online since May 2017. Watch it. https://t.co/o2zJdXUCBt

— Ted Lieu (@tedlieu) August 30, 2018

Non-rhetorical question: has anyone at the White House offered any explanation for Trump's claim that his Lester Holt interview was altered?

— Daniel Dale (@ddale8) September 3, 2018

Here it comes, Trump suggesting to his followers anything negative toward him “may have been altered”. Fake audio, fake video will soon be a cover for getting away with anything. https://t.co/2FzXkKBDNS

— Clint Watts (@selectedwisdom) August 30, 2018

Trump is lying about Lester Holt. The entire unedited interview was posted online. And Trump is likely lying about it because he now understands that he put himself in legal danger by admitting, on camera, that he fired Comey *because* he was investigating Trump’s campaign. https://t.co/sLzEUMgmF5

— Brian Klaas (@brianklaas) August 30, 2018

Another day, another groundbreaking black man to malign. Today it’s Lester Holt’s turn… Trump accuses him of “fudging” the Russia interview… So now, in addition to wiretaps and birth certificates, black men have the power to put words in people’s mouths? 🤭 #ThursdayThoughts

— Cyrus McQueen (@CyrusMMcQueen) August 30, 2018

Nearly 16 months after Trump confessed to Lester Holt that he’d fired Comey over “the Russia thing,” he suddenly claims that NBC had “fudged” the tape of Holt’s national interview❗️This obvious lie is itself a confession that Trump now realizes the import of what he admitted. https://t.co/Hd3xtfHeOp

— Laurence Tribe (@tribelaw) August 30, 2018

FWIW, the entire Lester Holt interview has been posted to NBC's website ever since May 2017. If there's something exculpatory in it, Trump might want to point it out.https://t.co/y9qoQsynoq
