When we get a Democratic president, Democrats should not go back to bipartisan tactics like the blue ship and 60 vote threshold. Those policies would be better for the country but they don’t work if only one party follows them. There is no reason to think that Republicans will change their terrible tactics because they are working. They stole a Supreme Court seat and Trump has filled many lower seats Republicans wouldn’t let Obama fill.

It takes both sides for bipartisanship and Republicans clearly don’t care about it. I hope the next Democratic president and senate act the way the Republicans do now.

50th anniversary of the moon landing

Many of us who were around remember where we were when the Apollo 11 astronauts walked on the moon. It’s memorable like the Kennedy and King assassinations or 9/11. I remember (age 15) going into my parents’ bedroom to watch it on their small (15″?) black and white TV. It was amazing.

If you weren’t around then, you have no idea how famous the astronauts were. The Mercury astronauts were like rock stars. I can still name all seven. We watched the early flights in our elementary school classrooms. It was incredible.

CNN is showing Apollo 11 tonight at 9:00 and 11:00. I strongly recommend it – I just watched it on Blu-ray. There’s footage that looks familiar and some we have never seen. The picture quality is great considering the age and circumstances of the original recordings.
