Trump is in no position to talk

Trump has attacked journalists for speculations about Melania Trump. He has lumped legitimate questions from the media in with tweets from the public

The article states: “By attacking journalists who have speculated or asked questions about his wife, the president put himself at odds with his own personal history of using his platform — and a number of his supporters — to target women and effectively amplify rumors about their health, appearance and personal relationships.”

Trump is in no position to talk:

  • During the 2016 campaign, he questioned Hillary Clinton’s health
  • He said Mike Brzezinksi had been bleeding from a face-lift and had a low I.Q.

Sad!

Puerto Rico

The news about the much higher than previously reported death toll in Puerto Rico has gotten little media attention compared to Barr and Bee.  This is wrong.

Samantha Bee and the use of “c***”

Samantha Bee was wrong to use the word “c***” to describe Ivanka Trump.  She has apologized for it.

Let’s remember Trump has used the same word:

This article reminds us that Trump has used it to describe at least three women.

And so did many of his supporters:

That doesn’t make what Samantha Bee did right.  It just means that it is hypocritical for Trump to criticize her for it.

Sad!

Good for ABC for canceling Roseanne

Congratulations to ABC for putting values over money when they cancelled “Roseanne” because of the star’s disgusting tweets.  Maybe Fox News will pick the show up.

Here’s an overview of what happened.

Roseanne had apologized and said it was a joke.  It wasn’t a joke.  Saying it was a joke is the strategy Trump uses when he says especially repulsive things.

Calling a lie a lie

There are lots of tweets today on the issue of whether Trump’s lies should be called “lies”or something milder like “false statements”.  Tweeters criticized the media for not calling his statements lies when they are untrue.

Some of the issues raised by those who don’t want to call them lies are:

  • we don’t know his intentions
  • he believes the stuff he says

I think he is a pathological liar and he wins if his lies are not called lies.  If he believes this crap, that’s a big problem too.  All politicians lie but this is not normal and we can’t forget that.

Here are some of the best tweets I saw today:

An easily disproven Trump lie

Trump said the New York Times made up a source in an article on North Korea.

A newer article about Trump’s lie states:

“It is not clear whether the president was simply unaware of the actions of his own senior staff or if he knowingly ignored the truth. The source of that sentence was a White House official who held a briefing on Thursday afternoon in the White House briefing room that was attended by about 50 reporters, with about 200 or so more on a conference call.

Reporters often request such briefings to be on the record, which would allow the official to be named. But, in this case, the rules of the briefing imposed by the White House required that the official be referred to only as a “senior White House official.” The Times is continuing to abide by that agreement.”

This is really pathetic.  Dozens of people were there.  This is just an easily disproven lie. It’s just part of his efforts to discredit the news media.  I despise Trump for many reasons but lies and bigotry are the top two.

Sad!

Trump has held very few solo news conferences

I can’t remember the last time Trump did a TV interview that wasn’t on Fox News.

Sad!
