Trump never shows the victims of mass shootings

This is a great tweet by Asha Rangappa (who does an excellent job when she is on CNN as an expert):

I’m sure the NRA would be unhappy if Trump treated mass shootings the same as killings by illegal immigrants.  I am certainly sympathetic to the victims and families of murders by illegal immigrants.  However, Trump is just exploiting them to further his bigoted anti-immigrant agenda.

This is not helpful

Trump blames Democrats for immigration problems but this is just an outrageous lie.  How is this supposed to get bipartisan negotiations to occur?  Liar!

Fact check on Trump’s blame of Democrats

“Infest”: Language as a weapon

Trump has called some illegal immigrants “animals” and today said Democrats want them to “infest” our country.  It’s an effort to appeal to the bigots that are a large part of his base.

Here are some tweets on Trump’s disgusting language.

update:

Trump lied when he said crime was up in Germany and blamed it on immigrants

First, I think what happens in Germany is none of his business.  We see how he reacts when anyone criticizes him.

Crime in Germany is down – see the AP Fact check.  This is just Trump spewing lies and bigotry.  He is encouraging nationalism in Germany.

Trump’s tweets are getting more bizarre

This column states:

“What we have right now is a President focused/bordering-on-obsessed with the Mueller investigation, what it has meant and might mean for his presidency. A President who feels like a victim of an unfair media, which won’t give him the proper credit he deserves. A President who, under siege in any number of ways, is increasingly bunkering in — and giving voice to conspiracy theories to justify his behavior.”

Trump only cares about his base (again)

He can’t make it clearer than this.  He has no interest in being president of the whole country.

Sad!

Trump called “fake news’ the enemy

This is similar to Nixon and to Trump’s own comments last year when he said the press was the enemy of the people.  This is how dictators act.

Robert De Niro

I agree with De Niro’s sentiment but he was wrong to say it.  It distracts from the real issues like health care, racism, and immigration and focuses attention on his bad language.  There are plenty of ways to criticize Trump without cursing.  I don’t think the audience helped by responding enthusiastically.   This will convince Trump voters even more that there are elites out to get them.

Washington Post overview

Opinion by Frank Bruni

Trump is in no position to talk

Trump has attacked journalists for speculations about Melania Trump. He has lumped legitimate questions from the media in with tweets from the public

The article states: “By attacking journalists who have speculated or asked questions about his wife, the president put himself at odds with his own personal history of using his platform — and a number of his supporters — to target women and effectively amplify rumors about their health, appearance and personal relationships.”

Trump is in no position to talk:

  • During the 2016 campaign, he questioned Hillary Clinton’s health
  • He said Mike Brzezinksi had been bleeding from a face-lift and had a low I.Q.

Sad!
