Trump has made 3,251 false or misleading statements in 497 days

The latest fact check totals from the Washington Post are here.

The most alarming thing is this: “That’s an average of more than 6.5 claims a day.

When we first started this project for the president’s first 100 days, he averaged 4.9 claims a day. But the average number of claims per day keeps climbing as the president nears the 500-day mark of his presidency.”

Democrats and the media point out his lies but the Republicans do nothing.  Since Republicans have the power, they’re the only ones who could do anything about the lies but they’re gutless cowards.

This has emboldened Trump to lie more.  It’s just going to get worse now that he understands there are no bad consequences for him when he lies.  The same is true of his pardons.

Sad!

Samantha Bee and the use of “c***”

Samantha Bee was wrong to use the word “c***” to describe Ivanka Trump.  She has apologized for it.

Let’s remember Trump has used the same word:

This article reminds us that Trump has used it to describe at least three women.

And so did many of his supporters:

That doesn’t make what Samantha Bee did right.  It just means that it is hypocritical for Trump to criticize her for it.

Trump may have violated a federal rule

Trump hinted at a good jobs report in a tweet this morning before the stock market opened.

The article linked to in the tweet below states: “President Trump broke years of presidential protocol on Friday morning with a tweet that signaled a strong jobs report was on its way from the Labor Department, an hour before the report was released.
While the White House brushed off any notion that Mr. Trump had crossed a line, legal experts said the tweet raised possible insider trading concerns and economists said it was a blatant misuse of presidential power.”

Unemployment is down to 3.8%

The unemployment rate has fallen to 3.8%, the lowest it has been since 2000.

This is excellent news and Trump deserves some of the credit.  The problem is that he and his followers take all of the credit instead of acknowledging how much was accomplished during the Obama administration.

Look at the graph in the tweet below.  You can see this is just a continuation of a trend that started in 2010.

Remember how Trump lied about unemployment during the 2016 campaign?

Trump also likes to take credit for the drop in African-American unemployment but remember this:

Trump pardons people who share his political views

Trump is pardoning Dinesh D’Sousza who pleaded guilty to making illegal campaign contributions.

He wasn’t treated unfairly.  He was guilty and admitted it.

It’s always about Trump

Trump did not condemn Roseanne Barr’s racists tweets.  Instead, he used it as an opportunity to make the issue about himself and demand apologies.

Trump is a racist as he has shown repeatedly so it’s not surprising he didn’t disagree with Barr’s tweets.   He has no interest in uniting the country.  He only cares about his base.

Not all Trump supporters are bigots but I think a lot of them are.  He didn’t attack Barr’s remarks so he wouldn’t offend them.  I don’t blame Trump for Barr’s tweets but he has created an environment where bigots are more open because of his encouragement.

Trump lies as usual at his Nashville rally

Fact checks on Trump’s rally this week.  I don’t think he can give a speech without lying.  It’s scary when he incites the crowd to call MS-13 animals.  They’re bad people but they’re still people.

White racial resentment is the real reason for welfare cuts

This is an excellent article on white racial resentment and it’s impact on views of the safety net.

It states: “White Americans are more likely to favor welfare cuts when they believe that their status is threatened and that minorities are the main beneficiaries of safety net programs, the study says.

The findings suggest that political efforts to cut welfare programs are driven less by conservative principles than by racial anxiety, the authors conclude.”

Trump attacks our allies on trade

If we have any allies left after all of his terrible behavior…..

Trump imposes tariffs on Canada, Mexico and Europe.

Our allies are perplexed by his policies.
