Trump lies at his rally in Wisconsin

He really liked about abortion.

Here's Trump making another false & unspeakably dangerous claim about abortion:

"The baby is born; the mother meets with the doctor. They take care of the baby. They wrap the baby beautifully. Then the doctor & mother determine whether or not they will execute the baby." pic.twitter.com/Hg6V6pjgpX

Wow.

So now lying is “reviving an inaccurate refrain”

Cryer is right – these are lies! Call them lies!

“Fake news. They’re fake,” Trump said during a roughly 90-minute rally. “They are fake. They are fakers.”

The crowd broke into a chant: “CNN sucks! CNN sucks”https://t.co/ZuABuPEbsh

Trump lied

At the Trump rally in Green Bay Wisconsin, Kid Rock's "Bawitdaba" is playing on the jumbotron. It shows Trump as a WWE character body-slamming a CNN logo. The crowd got very excited.

That's how this #WHCD night is gonna go out here in Wisco.
— Katie Rogers (@katierogers) April 27, 2019

Holy hell. Trump just told the crowd at his Wisconsin rally that after women give birth, the baby is "wrapped in a blanket" and then "the mother and the doctor decide whether to execute the baby."

They cut heads off.

The number is exaggerated – I have a post on that.

President Trump is holding a rally in Green Bay, Wisconsin. Meanwhile, in Washington, journalists are attending the annual White House Correspondents' Association dinner. Trump is skipping the event for the third year in a row.

The case for indicting Trump

I want Trump to go to jail.

In two cases — Mueller's obstruction probe and the hush money scandal — "it now seems likely that Trump would have faced personal criminal indictment but for the fact that he is the president of the United States," @vermontgmg writes https://t.co/sHXenPKbai
— Brian Stelter (@brianstelter) April 23, 2019

Former acting AG @SallyQYates didn’t hold back on @MeetThePress: In her 30 yrs as prosecutor, Yates said, she tried cases of obstruction on far less evidence than case laid out by Mueller against @POTUS. Were he not president, Yates said, Trump likely would’ve been indicted.

— Meet the Press (@MeetThePress) April 28, 2019

As a former prosecutor, I agree with the assessment of @Mimirocah1 and @renato_mariotti in @thedailybeast that the Mueller Report includes incidents of obstruction of justice that most prosecutors would charge if Trump were not president. https://t.co/0KRolfL26A
— Barb McQuade (@BarbMcQuade) April 28, 2019

The obstruction case against Trump would be a strong one “that any federal prosecutor-regardless of their politics-should proudly pursue…because if obstruction goes unchecked, our whole system of justice is at risk.” By me & ⁦@renato_mariotti⁩ https://t.co/hlBUIbGXas

The constitutional stupidity of DOJ’s “sitting presidents can’t be indicted” policy is growing more obvious by the day. @RepAdamSchiff is right to worry that the statute of limitations on some of 45’s crimes (not all!) might run before he leaves office.https://t.co/nuDnbzMTn8

Covers: A terrible version of “Superstition”

Stevie Wonder’s great “Superstition” was released in 1972. I saw a truly terrible cover by Cher and the Osmond Brothers on Twitter. I assume it’s from the 1970s. It also slaughters “For Once in My Life”.

Victory against Michigan gerrymandering…for now

The Supreme Court could overturn this when they rule on gerrymandering later this year.

Federal judges just threw out Michigan's congressional map as unconstitutional, and it looks like another victory for anti-gerrymandering advocates.

But the SCOTUS is already considering the issue and will have the final say in June.@politico story –> https://t.co/3nX6AAfs8c
— Steven Shepard (@POLITICO_Steve) April 25, 2019

This is a big win for a stronger and fairer democracy. My work in this case showed that Michigan has some of the most gerrymandered congressional and state legislative maps in history. I'm excited that Michigan voters will now get #FairMaps. https://t.co/R7VU4JKIsK
— Chris Warshaw (@cwarshaw) April 25, 2019

This is excellent news for Michigan and the whole country. When a party draws congressional districts so that the other party has no chance of competing, it violates voters’ constitutional rights. It’s egregious, unAmerican corruption. End gerrymandering! https://t.co/UdxIbSTyWw

GDP news was good but there could be future problems

There are issues now and potentially in the future.

BREAKING: US #economy grew at a 3.2% (annualized) pace in Q1 2019, best since 2015 and smashing estimates of 2.3%. Higher inventories and a smaller trade deficit helped push the number up, factors that aren't likely to last.

Q1 18: 2.2%
Q1 17: 1.8%
Q1 16: 1.5%
Q1 15: 3.3%
— Heather Long (@byHeatherLong) April 26, 2019

Everyone seems dazzled by the headline number, but the GDP report is not so amazing. Big drop in personal consumption. Big drop in imports, which boosts GDP, also indicates weakening demand. Big boost from inventory accumulation.
— Ryan Avent (@ryanavent) April 26, 2019

Strip out those effects, and growth was much weaker. In fact, it was the weakest quarter since *2013.* pic.twitter.com/2TuShsUhH4
— Ben Casselman (@bencasselman) April 26, 2019

Trump: "Our economy is now the hottest anywhere on the planet earth."

Reality:
US economy grew at 3.2% annualized pace in Q1.
China: 6.4%
India: ~7%#economy

another trump lie

Trump likes 3.2% growth, but he's still bashing Fed:
"If we kept the same interest rates and the same quantitative easing that the previous administration had, that 3.2 would have been much higher than that."https://t.co/lPKPLIV3pj #GDP #Fed
— Heather Long (@byHeatherLong) April 26, 2019

He is wrong to bash the Fed. He makes everything political.

Terrorism isn’t terrorism if a white supremacist does it

His defense was he says the same kind of stuff Trump does.

Christopher Hasson’s lawyer argued that his white supremacist rhetoric was no more than a reflection of the “national vocabulary.”

“Donald Trump uses similar epithets in his everyday language & tweets,” she said.

Hasson will be released from detention. https://t.co/fneTJhMTV2
— Hatewatch (@Hatewatch) April 26, 2019

Why won’t AG Barr charge a terrorist caught plotting to kill Trump critics?

The judge has "grave concerns" about Hasson, who planned to kill Nancy Pelosi, Democratic presidential candidates, and other Trump critics. But Barr refuses to bring charges. https://t.co/kcvk010zko

— Charles P. Pierce (@CharlesPPierce) April 26, 2019

In 2019, it’s hard to be stunned, but this has shocked the hell out of me.

Christopher Hasson, a white supremacist, was actively plotting to kill multiple elected officials, members of the media, and more. He had an enough weapons for a small army.

And is being released. https://t.co/GENqAJhSzn
— Shaun King (@shaunking) April 25, 2019

New documents reinforce an unsettling conclusion: Coast Guard lieutenant Christopher Hasson allegedly aspired to join the ranks of history’s most violent white nationalists and had amassed the tools necessary to make those ambitions come true https://t.co/lpKHHVAz6f

OTOH, the initial detention memo back in February did not flinch from identifying Hasson as a "terrorist" intent on murdering people.
