Somehow, I don’t think she’s one of the best people. She did work for state tv (Fox News) which is important to Trump.
Month: July 2019
Only 18% of Trump voters agree that “go back” is racist
More proof that the Trump cult members are:
- racists or
- willing to tolerate racism
Republicans try recalls to invalidate election results
Republicans were unwilling to accept election results in Wisconsin and elsewhere so they limited the power of the governor. Now, they are trying recalls to invalidate legitimate election results. Disgraceful.
Republicans don’t care about election security
They think foreign meddling will help Trump again. That’s all they care about. We know a lot more than we did in 2016 about interference but McConnell won’t even give hearings to election security bills passed by the House. Trump has no interest in the truth – the spread of disinformation helps him. Sad!
Trump is anti-Semitic
He attacks others for anti-Semitism and his cult overlooks his own bigotry. I am Jewish and will repeat this: I will never forgive him for “very fine people” after Charlottesville.
Red states decision not to expand Medicaid eligibility resulted in about 15,000 deaths
I guess hating Obama was more important to Republicans than the health of their constituents.
Mueller’s testimony tomorrow
Robert Mueller testifies before the House tomorrow. The $1 question I would ask him is:
You did not make a determination on obstruction of justice. Did you expect the Justice Department or Congress to make that determination?
I think Congress should have done it but Barr stepped and cleared Trump. Mueller has played by traditional norms but this has been a failure since Trump and the Republicans have not. They have lied about the report and distorted the conclusions and Mueller has done little to correct them. Barr got his message out before the redacted report was released and Republicans have won the message war so far.
Mueller should have realized that very few people would read a 400 page report. Instead, partisans of both sides are primarily relying on interpretations made by others. It will be good for the report to be discussed in public. Maybe this will increase public sentiment for impeachment hearings. It would be disgraceful if Trump suffers no consequences for what I believe is criminal behavior.
Trump’s dangerous lies about illegal voting.
Trump is lying again by claiming that there is massive illegal voting. He is doing this to undermine public confidence in the 2020 results. I expect him to claim it was rigged if he loses and I doubt he would concede.
The Philip Bump column quotes ridiculous things Trump expects Democrats to say in the 2020 debates. I expect him to use this as a rationale to lie in the debates. He will lie about his own record as well as the Democratic positions and candidate. Trump will claim that Democrats are socialists led by the “squad”.
The column quotes what Trump said:
“Don’t kid yourself,” he said later. “Not as easy when I’m up there on the debate [stage] all alone with some maniac that they” — the Democrats — “chose and that maniac is saying, ‘We’re going to do this for you! We’re going to do that for you! We’re going to give you everything! Everybody gets a free Rolls-Royce, every family!’ ”
“ ‘And we’re going to take better care of illegal immigrants than we take care of our own citizens!’ they tell you,” he said.”
Democrats must do more to fight Republicans
I completely agree with this column. Democrats have to do more to fight Trump and Republicans in Congress. Trump is getting bolder because he is not being held accountable. Republicans will not stop him.
From the article linked to below:
“In an era of Republican lawlessness, under a president who views political conflict in zero-sum terms, the accommodationist approach has magnified the perverse incentives that appeasing enemies always creates.
In seeking to avoid conflict with Trump, Democrats have freed him to trample the rule of law and fair play without any political downside, and set themselves up to be victims of Republican abuses for years to come.”
Trump lies about Article II of the Constitution
He lied when he said he can do what he wants. The president is subject to oversight from Congress.
